Billy Smythe, 82, of Louisville, formerly of Columbia, died Friday, December 22, 2017 at 6:50 P.M. in Louisville.

He was born April 29, 1935 in Adair County to the late Leighton & Rachel Grissom Smythe.  He was married to Cassie Prentice Smythe, who preceded him in death in 1971, and later married Betty Vibbert Merideth Smythe, who preceded him in death in 1990.  He was also preceded in death by two stepchildren, Dan Merideth & Gary Merideth.  Billy was raised in the Columbia Baptist Church, a U.S. Navy Veteran and an electrician at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.

One Son – Phillip Smythe of Louisville

Two Step-Children – Steve Merideth of Hopkinsville & Sandra Paul of Lexington Park, Maryland

Ten Step-Grandchildren & Several Step-Great-Grandchildren

Funeral Service – Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Steve Merideth officiating

Burial in Columbia Cemetery with full military honors presented by VFW Post 6097

Visitation after 11:00 A.M. Wednesday
