Carroll "Turkey" D. Matthews

August 26, 1933 ~ December 15, 2016 (age 83) 83 Years Old

Carroll D. “Turkey” Matthews, 83, of Kenosha, Wisconsin, formerly of Adair County, passed away on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at his residence with his family present.

He was born in White Plaines, KY, on August 26, 1933, he was the son of the late Reverend Richard Vernon and Anna Belle (Clark) Matthews.  Carroll grew up in Columbia, Kentucky, where he played basketball for Columbia High School.  He went to serve two years in the U.S. Army and two in the U.S. Air Force.

He married Fusako Hoshino in Japan; she preceded him in death on December 19, 2002.  In addition to parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three siblings, Clara Conover, Jesse Matthews and Richard Matthews.

Surviving are his daughter, Shirley Cook of Kenosha; a granddaughter, Tina Marie (Jeff) Peadro of Kenosha; two great-grandsons, Wyatt and Carter both of Kenosha and five siblings, Tula Peterson, Mildred White, Thomas Matthews all of Kentucky and Christine Greenman and Virginia Ward both of Indiana.  He is further survived by several nieces and nephews and other relatives.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 27, 2017 from 9:00 – 11:00 A.M. at the Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with a Memorial Service immediately following.
