I express my sincere condolences to the family of Edward Farris. I was unaware of his passing until this week when my daughter discovered the notice. I was Mr. Farris's Executive Secretary when he was Commissioner for State Alcohol Beverage Control. He was the kindest person I have ever worked for and will always remember the gentle man that he was.

Dear Linda, Larry, and Cathy,

My loving condolences to you for the loss of your father who I remember working for my father when I was a teenager. He was a wonderful man and I'm so happy he lived to a ripe old age.

Much Love,
Bess Clements Abell

I never met Ed in person but we had some good telephone conversations. Sometimes I was able to be the go-between to help his granddaughters visit the sites important to him in the Lorraine region of France. Once I helped a granddaughter visit the burial site of his brother in the Brittany cemetery. And I will never forget the Kentucky Bourbon chocolates he sent me!. I know my friend Jerome Leclerc and the members of L'Espace de Memoire Lorraine 1939-45 held him in high esteem. He was generous in sharing his memory of a terrible time at Flavigny, France.

We met Ed 20 years ago as he went for the dedication of the Flavigny bridge's Monument, where he fought in September 1944.
He was really a very nice man, and we never forgot him.
Deepest condolences,
Jerome
