Glynn “Red” Nixon, 79, of Columbia, died Friday, September 15, 2017 at 6:30 A.M. at the Norton Healthcare Pavilion in Louisville.
He was born July 5, 1938, in Adair County, to the late Frank & Polly Hood Nixon. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, James Nixon, and one sister, Dorothy Nixon.
Glynn was an original member of the Adair County Rescue Squad and a former member of the Adair County Jaycees. He was a retired educator and coach in the Adair County School System, having taught science and physical education and coached basketball, cross country, golf and track. He was also a longtime carpenter and of the Christian faith.

One Son – Steve (Jerri) Nixon of Columbia
One Daughter – Rebecca Nixon (Jerry Saettel) of Louisville
One Brother – Carson Lynn “Blackie” (Nina) Nixon of Indiana
Two Grandchildren – Ashton Nicole Nixon & Jordan Glynn Nixon both of Columbia
Two Step-Grandchildren – Trenton Brody Watson & Trinity Addison Carta both of Columbia
Brother-in-law – Dennis Carl Statome of Virginia
Several Nieces & Other Relatives & Friends also survive
Funeral Service – Monday, September 18, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Martin officiating
Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery
Visitation after 1:00 P.M. Sunday
