Gertie M. Giles, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Monday, November 14, 2016 at her home of a sudden illness.

She was born August 18, 1932 in Adair County, to the late Cary Hughes Willis and Frank Willis.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters; Susie Lee White and Mary Katherine Johnson, her brother, Nathaniel Billy Willis and a great-grandson, Demetrius “DJ” Johnson.

She was a member of First Baptist Church and retired from Lindsey Wilson College after 17 years.

Survivors include:

One daughter – Lynn C. Giles of Frankfort

Two sons – Ron H. (Tina) Giles of Frankfort, Ricky (Linda) Giles of Maryland

Four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral service – Saturday, November 19, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. at First Baptist Church with Rev. Henry L. Mosley delivering the eulogy

Burial in Jones Cemetery

Visitation from 5-8pm, Friday at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and after 11am, Saturday at First Baptist Church.
