Byron Wyatt Hixson, 73, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Sunday, January 22, 2023 at 3:25 P.M. at his home.

He was born August 10, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio, to the late Leroy and Minnie Thompson Hixson.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Judy Ann Neat Hixson, one brother, Ronald Hixson and three sisters, Wilma Johnson, Vera Davenport, Euna Cravens.

Byron retired from the Adair County Regional Jail, enjoyed playing golf, playing cards with friends, horse racing and spending time with family and friends.

Survivors include:

One daughter – Marsha Hixson of Columbia

Two sons – Barry Hixson (Angie) of Columbia, Gary Hixson (Dana) of Knifley

Three grandsons – Will Hixson (Emma), Jake Hixson (Callee), Brady Hixson (Kendyl Hardin)

One granddaughter – Chloe Hixson

Two great-grandsons – Roman Hixson and Baker Hixson

Brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law – Dallas and Sheila Neat, Jeff and Rita Neat all of Columbia, Dewayne and Rhonda Neat of Russell Springs

Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends

Funeral service – Wednesday, January 25, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Don Neat officiating

Burial in New Hope Cemetery

Visitation after 10:00 A.M. Wednesday

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to the New Hope Cemetery Fund and envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
