Catherine (Martin) Thomas

Catherine Louise (Martin) Thomas, 102, of Dayton Beach, Florida, died Monday July 29, 2019 at Indigo Palms in Daytona Beach. 

She was born November 29, 1916 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Taylor Parmalee & Winnifred Mae Barbee Martin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mathews in 1946.  After his death, she married John Thomas who also preceded her in death in 2000.  She was also preceded in death by a stepson, Kermit Thomas, and four siblings. 

While moving around often, Catherine held many different jobs during her life.  Some of these included the Ford Motor Plant in Louisville, the Crane Naval Ammunition Depot, the General Motors Plant and a bookkeeper for Ecoff Trucking in Indiana.  She is remembered by her family as a loving disciplinarian who always expected your best and was strong-willed, fair and gracious, which served her well throughout her long life.

Survivors Include: 

Two Sons – David Mathews of Alaska & Michael Mathews of Virginia

One Stepson – George Thomas of Texas

Four grandchildren & several great-grandchildren

Many nieces, nephews & other relatives & friends also survive

Graveside Service – Monday, August 12, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. in the Columbia Cemetery with burial to follow the service

There will be no visitation
