Grover C. Gilpin, 96, of Columbia, died Tuesday, April 15, 2014 at 12:20 A.M. at Summit Manor Health & Rehab.
He was born October 15, 1917, in Green County, to the late C.D. & Beatrice Anna Hancock Gilpin. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Furkins Gilpin on August 13, 1997, and a sister, Elizabeth Monroe. He was a member of Columbia United Methodist Church, a United States Army Veteran serving during WWII, a retired farmer, a life member of V.F.W. Post 6097, a member of Columbia Lodge #96, a member and former chairman of the Adair County Democratic Party and a member of the Adair County Livestock Association.
He is survived by:
One Son – Mike Gilpin of Columbia
One Sister – Dean Ryan of Louisville
Two Nieces – Pam Tallman of Louisville & Gail McDaniels of Franklin, TN
Funeral Service will be held Thursday, April 17, 2014 at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Neil Janes officiating
Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery
Visitation after 5:00 P.M., Wednesday
Expressions of sympathy are requested to be in the form of a donation to Lindsey Wilson College or Columbia United Methodist Church. These may be left at the funeral home.
