Hattie Lee (Jessie) Ramsey Obituary

Hattie Lee Ramsey, 83, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Saturday, November 15, 2025 at TJ Health/Columbia Emergency Room

She was born August 27, 1942, in Adair County, to the late Delmar LaRue and Ruby England Jessie.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Ramsey and her brother, D.L. Jessie, Jr.  She was a member of Charity Baptist Church

Hattie Lee also known as “Granny Pete” had a gift for making people feel cared for and she expressed that love most naturally through food.  Her kitchen was alive, especially at Christmas with homemade candy, warm pies and cheesecakes that she had perfected over the years.  Feeding others wasn’t just something she did—it was one of her greatest joys.

Her green thumb was every bit as remarkable as her baking.  She found peace in her garden, tending to her flowers with patience and devotion.  Every bloom seemed to flourish under her care.  Above all, Hattie will be remembered for her kindness.  Her love reached far beyond her home—touching friends, neighbors and anyone fortunate enough to know her.

In her earlier years, Hattie was also a co-owner of Jessie-Ballou Fruit Market as well as Ballou's Fruit Marker located in both Campbellsville and Greensburg

Though we mourn her passing, we take comfort in knowing she is now at peace in the presence of the Lord she loved so dearly.  Her spirit lives on in the recipes she taught us, the gardens she inspired and the faith and love she poured into her family.  Her memory will continue to bloom in every kitchen warm with baking and every garden filled with flowers.
