JD McKinney

JD McKinney, 88, of Breeding, Kentucky, died Thursday, December 25, 2025 in Lexington.

He was born March 6, 1937, in Adair County, to the late Ray and Delpha Coomer McKinney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Genette Tweedy McKinney on March 4, 2025, and the following siblings, Alfred McKinney, Ruby England and Betty Bean.

Mr. McKinney was retired from Columbia Adair County Utilities District, had previously worked at IMO Industries, drove a van for Wilkerson Transport and was a farmer.

Survivors include:

One son – Roger McKinney (Sandy) of Breeding

One daughter – Rhonda Fletcher (Lynn) of Summerville, SC

Two sisters – Pat Phipps and Phyllis Burris, both of Columbia

Seven grandchildren – Courtney McKinney, Cara Gibson (Brian), Whitney Reed Glass (Collin), Jesse Reed (Rashell), Casey McKinney, Chris Fletcher (Renee) and Cameron Fletcher (Lauren)

Eleven great-grandchildren

Funeral service – Sunday, December 28, 2025 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home

Burial in Fudge Cemetery
