James Howard Sexton, 87, of the Leatherwood community of Adair County, died Friday, November 13, 2020 at Cumberland Valley Manor in Burkesville.
He was born May 2, 1933, in Adair County, to the late Jim Riley and Pearl Roach Sexton. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two brother, Riley & Ural “Shorty” Sexton and five sisters, Myrtle Brummett, Geneva Wilson, Alvina Roach, Josie Roach & Dorothy Mae Sexton.
James Howard served on the Adair County School Board, serving as Chairman, for many years, was a member of 3Trees Church and a retired farmer.

His wife of 63 years – Mary Rosaline Reece Sexton of Adair County
Three sons – Mendel and his wife LaGene Sexton, Bruce and his wife Shannon Sexton all of Columbia, Mark and his wife Alison Sexton of Bowling Green
One daughter – Sonja and her husband Perry Reeder of Columbia
One sister – Cleo Wilson of Louisville
Eight grandchildren – Miranda, Brandon, Brooke, Bradley, Britnee, Ann- Riley, Meridith & Tyler
Eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, other relatives & friends

Funeral service – Monday, November 16, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Pastor Johnny Hood officiating
Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery
Visitation after 10:00 A.M. Monday
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations of Gideon Bibles which can be made at the funeral home.
