Jarrid "Bam" Smith

Jarrid Decarlo Smith was born in Columbia, KY on August 20, 1976.  He was the 3rd son born to Ruth Ann Smith and the late Jerry L. Smith.  He passed from this life to claim his Heavenly reward on Tuesday, August 22 at Norton Hospital, Louisville, KY.  As a child, he was given the nickname “Bam”, a name that stuck with him all throughout his life.  In fact, if anyone referred to him as Jarrid, no one knew who they were talking about.

At an early age Bam dedicated his life to Christ at First Baptist Church, Columbia, KY.  He was a graduate of Adair County High School and I.T.T. Technical College, Louisville KY.  Bam had the biggest heart, and he had a great and abiding love for his family and friends.  He was very generous with his time, helping anyone at any time, with whatever they needed and he did so without hesitation.  He loved working on cars, spending time with his daughter, going to the Beech Bend racetrack, and working on any electronic device brought to him.  He was great at it as evidenced by the number of family and friends that depended on him to fix their gadgets.

Bam was preceded in death by his father, Jerry L. Smith, 3 uncles, Charles Hughes, Eugene “Dukie Hughes & Danny Hughes, 1 Aunt, Brenda Hughes, Maternal Grandparents, Bill and Bessie Hughes, and Paternal Grandmother, Ethel Smith.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his mother Ruth Ann Smith, 3 brothers Darrin “Speedy” Smith and Aundrae (Fay) Smith of Columbia, Shayne Smith of Bardstown, KY, a daughter Reynah Smith of Elizabethtown, KY, 3 nieces, Vakerria (Nick ) Coffey of Columbia, Milana Smith of Radcliffe, Ky, Asian Smith of Nashville, TN, 2 nephews, Daquan Smith of Columbia, Martel Smith of Radcliffe, KY, a great nephew and great niece, Keyari Coffey and Nella Coffey of Columbia.  Several Aunts, Uncles and a host of other relatives and friends also survive.

Funeral service – Sunday, August 27, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
