John Shirley, 94, formerly of Adair County, died Sunday, January 4, 2026 at his home in Hope, Indiana
He was born December 19, 1931, in Adair County, to the late Will and Ada Keltner Shirley. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Anna Lou Harmon Shirley and a son, Charles Shirley.
He was a member of Hutchison Community Church and was attending Freedom Missionary Baptist Church in Hope, Indiana for the last nine years. He was a former sawmill worker, farmer and musician.
Survivors include:
Three sons – Junior Shirley (Sheila) of Hope, Indiana, Carl Shirley (Donna) of Columbia, Clarence Shirley of Crawfordsville, Indiana
Two daughters – Della Rowe of Louisville and Rachel Bradshaw (Mark) of Columbia
One sister - Ellen Wiggs of Houston, Texas
Eight grandchildren – Shelley Shirley, Christy Holzer, Amy Long, Brian Shirley, Chasity Shirley, Stephanie Shirley, Michael Bradshaw, Matthew Shirley
Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
Funeral service – Friday, January 9, 2026 at 10:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Larry Brown officiating
Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery
Visitation after 4:00 P.M. Thursday
Grandchildren will be Casket Bearers

The family has requested that expressions of sympathy be made to the Gideon Bible Fund, Joy Ministries, or Hospice of Green River.
