Sue, I am so saddened by the news of your loss.  I just learned of your mom's passing.  I have been out of the country for several weeks.  I loved your mother.  She was so sweet and caring.  She epitomized everything you would expect of a teacher of young children.  Although I was never her student, I knew her as the mother of a dear friend.  She made me feel very special each time we saw each other over the years.  She was always interested in my family, and she enjoyed sharing information about you and your family.  I dearly loved her and your dad. I know you were blessed to have her as your mother.  Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

To the family, Mrs. Vance was my second grade teacher. She was so wonderful, in fact so wonderful that I sat in her lap almost all year crying. I had transferred from LWC training school and had a hard time adjusting. I am so sorry to here of her passing. May God comfort you during this time. Kim Goodin

Mrs. Vance was my first grade teacher. She is forever embedded into my wonderful memories. I loved her so much and she had a great influence on me even at a very young age. She will be missed. May God's hand of comfort be upon you during your time of loss.

So sorry to hear of your Mom's passing.  We were neighbor's in Columbia even before your Dad & Mom married.  They were a beautiful couple and we loved them. I am 13 years younger than your Mom, so I thought she was beautiful and so sweet.  She would paint my nails when I was young, so I admired her so much.  Your Mom brought you over to see the new baby and I have a picture of you holding him in a small rocking chair.  So many good memories of her. God bless you and your family at this time.

I am so sad to hear of Mrs. Vance's death. I did so enjoy teaching with her at Col. Wm. Casey. She was such an encourager to us younger teachers, and she was always willing to help her students succeed.  My prayers and thoughts are with you at this time.

Mrs. Vance was my second grade teacher and I loved her so much. She was one of my all time favorites and  one who inspired me to become an educator. I saw her a few years ago in the grocery store and we had the nicest visit. She remembered my name and that made me feel special, just as she made me feel special when she was my teacher. You have my deepest sympathy.

Dear Sue,

Please accept my condolence in the death of your dear mother.  She, along with your dad represented the "contemporary modern parents" within Columbia.  Your mom, in my opinion,  presented an image of the professional woman in her dress, carriage, speech and personality.  She was always friendly, smiling and non-intimidating to me as an adolescent.  In other words she was a lovely human being, possessing patients with the exuberance of youth, kindness and obviously excellent parenting skills to have raised such a lovely, talented and accomplished daughter.  I truly appreciated your friendship and sharing band experiences during our youth.  Peace of the Lord be with you and your family as you celebrate her life.  Jim
