Nellie Garrett, 98, of Columbia, died Sunday, June 25, 2017 at 6:30 P.M. at her home.

She was born July 22, 1918, in Adair County, to the late Sam Loren & Gracie Smith Burton.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert A. Garrett on January 7, 1990, three brothers, Clyde, Willie & Clinton Burton, and two sisters, Beatrice Burton & Inez Roden.  She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church and a homemaker.

Survivors Include:

One daughter & son-in-law – Joyce & Randall Pyles of Columbia

Three Grandchildren – Cindi (Dan) Waggener, Doug (Tammy) Pyles & Craig (Carla) Pyles

Seven Great-Grandchildren – Will & Michael Waggener, Jacob, Luke, Zachary, Holly & Emily Pyles

Sister-in-law – Virginia Burton of Columbia

Special Friends – Brenda Nokes & Teresa Dean

Several other relatives & friends also survive

Funeral Service – Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Pescosolido officiating

Burial will follow the service in Haven Hill Cemetery

Visitation after 4:00 P.M. Wednesday

Expressions of sympathy are requested to be in the form of a donation to Trinity United Methodist Church or donation of Gideon Bibles.  These may be left at the funeral home.
