Roger Lee “Poncho” Shelton, 69, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Saturday, July 19, 2025 at his home
He was born November 5, 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Lewis Chester and Nadene Brown Shelton. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronnie and Michael Shelton. Poncho retired from a Steel Mill in Chicago, was a former Tattoo Artist and a farmer.
Survivors include:
One daughter – Nicole Merkle (Joe) of Oak Lawn, Illinois
Four grandchildren – Alec Merkle-Shelton, Aubrey Merkle-Shelton, Addison Merkle-Shelton, Tyler Merkle
Two brothers – Robert Shelton and John Shelton both of Columbia
One sister – Anita Jurkovic of Chicago, Illinois
His long-time companion – Kathy Kerns Rogers of Columbia
Several nieces, nephews, other relative and friends
Visitation from 4:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M. Thursday, July 24, 2025, with a funeral service at 5:00 P.M. with Bro. Matt Franklin officiating at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Cremation to follow
Burial of cremains at a later date in Columbia Cemetery
