Ruthie Jean Cross, 88, of Stone Bluff, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly in the Emergency Room of TJ Health/ Columbia in Columbia, Kentucky on Sunday, July 9, 2023 at 1:02 P.M.
Jean, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Barren County, Kentucky on April 12, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Rex Huskisson and Mavis (Pare) Johnson and was raised by her grandparents, Herbert and Nora pare of Flippin, Kentucky. Jean attended school in Gamaliel and later moved to Indiana and settled in Stone Bluff in 1964. Jean was a homemaker.
She was a member of Community Bible Baptist Church in Veedersburg, Indiana. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, collecting cookbooks and flower gardening.
On January 12, 1952, Jean married Lewie Benton Cross in Tompkinsville, Kentucky. Lewie preceded her in death on June 9, 1997.

Two sons – Bobby Eugene (companion-Lisa Tincher) Cross of Orleans, IN, and Gary Benton (fiancée- Marty Lyons) Cross of Stone Bluff, IN
Two daughters – Melinda Gail (Daniel) Lawson of Danville, KY and Melissa Darline (Danny) Fudge of Breeding, KY
Seven grandchildren – Nicole (partner-Alan Bremer) Cross, Nathan (Traci) Cross, Leif Lawson, Devin (Amy) Lawson, Tarl (Samantha) Lawson, Benton (Ashton) Fudge, Carley (Rachel) Fudge
15 great-grandchildren along with her life-long friends, Rick and Cheri Roden, her niece, Pat Stewart and nephews, Ronnie Veach and Darrell Reanu
Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home in Attica, Indiana on Monday, July 17, 2023 from 3:00 P.M. until service time at 7:00 P.M. with Pastor Evan Sharbaugh officiating
A second visitation will be on Wednesday, July 19, 2023 starting at 11:00 A.M. until service time at 1:00 P.M. at Indian Creek Baptist Church in Flippin, (Monroe County), Kentucky with her son-in-law, Danny Fudge officiating. Burial to follow in the Neal Cemetery in Flippin
