Scotty Ferguson Obituary

Scotty Rowe Ferguson, 83, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Monday, April 21, 2025 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Campbellsville, Kentucky.

He was born October 11, 1941, on Dunbar Hill in northern Adair County, to Clellan and Cleo Knifley Ferguson.  He married Viola Tedder on August 21, 1960 at Knifley Christian Church.

Scotty was a 1959 graduate of Campbellsville High School.  In January of 1960, he graduated from Tri-City Barber College in Louisville and maintained his license throughout his life.  He worked for many years as a Master Barber in Campbellsville and continued to cut the hair of family and friends after moving back to Adair County.  In Columbia, he worked for IMO Industries and retired as part of their shipping department.

He accepted Christ as his Savior at a young age and became a member of Knifley Christian Church.  Throughout his life, he served as Deacon and Elder at both Woodlawn Christian Church in Campbellsville and Columbia Christian Church.  In Columbia, he taught Sunday School for many years and also served as Chairman of the Board for a period of time and chair of the Evangelism Committee.

Survivors include:

His wife of 64 years – Viola Ferguson of Columbia

His son – Mark (Jennifer) Ferguson of Columbia

His daughter – Kathy (Billy) Smith of Columbia

Four granddaughters – Lauren (Cameron) Fletcher, Lynsey (Tristan) Cain, Emily Smith and Arlia Smith

Five great-grandsons – Zachary Lynn, Rowan Lynn, Jude Fletcher, Levi Lynn, Calyx Cain

One aunt – Justine Arnold Knifley of Campbellsville

Nieces – Freeda Merritt Hannah of Arlington, Tennessee and Carol Merritt Edwards of Columbia

Many dear cousins, nieces, nephews and friends

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Mike

Funeral service – Thursday, April 24, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. at Columbia Christian Church with Bro. John Davis, Bro. Richard Martin and Honorable Phil Bertram officiating

Burial in Haven Hill Cemetery

Visitation from 4:00 P.M. until 9:00 P.M. on Wednesday and from 6:00 A.M. until 8:30 A.M. Thursday at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home and after 9:00 A.M. Thursday at the Church.

In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Dunbar Hill Cemetery, Tabernacle Cemetery or Columbia Christian Church, which can be left at the funeral home or church
