Brother Stephens Family,
I meant Brother and Sister Stephens in the late 60's at the Calvary Temple Church on Highway 910 in Casey County. I was just a teenager at the time. I knew right away that they were a very special team working for Jesus. Lots of good memories of both of them. May the peace of God hold you close and know that they are in heaven and worked for hard to get there and take others with them.

God’s Faithful has fought the fight, finished the course, and kept the Faith without compromise. It is with the deepest respect that we are obliged to send our condolences to the earthly family and the spiritual family of the Kingdom. Bro. Stephen’s influence on the Apostolic Pentecostal Movement is immeasurable. His staunch grip on the truths of Holiness shook the powers of hell. I shall never forget growing up under his ministry and that of my dad, Rev. Russell A. King. They were like brothers. He used to take me fishing all the time when we preached together when I was just a lad. He was chosen for this time and his ministry continues on through the likes of men and women that are not ashamed of the gospel. Tammy, Sherry, and Robin you are like my sisters. Remember those old raggedy gospel tent days? My family sends their deepest thoughts and prayers. My mother and Daddy are not far behind your Mom and Dad-they are almost ready to top over the mountain and view the City of God!!! Oh Hallelujah I long for the day when I meet your Mama And Daddy once more. Heaven is a reality built for the true children of the Lord. We are one day nearer home! The King Family and the entire congregation of Christ Cathedral and The United Pentecostal Church (UPCI) sends our love. God bless you in the Only saving Name: the Lord Jesus Christ. We love and appreciate all of you and yours.

I'm so sorry to hear Bro. Stevens has passed away at Christmas time. I know it's hard anytime but at the holidays I think it's harder. Mamma died December 29, 2003...may God comfort you all!!!
I'm sooooo glad I was able to go see him on November 21st. I talked with him for about 15 minutes or so. I do believe he recognized my voice as he never did open his eyes. I told him who I was and that Bro. Ralph was hoping to come see him soon. I spoke of his alter calls as a kid and how he counted to seven, how I was scared out of my mind. He grinned really big. I told him about Nathan and Debbie and how Alvin is living with me now. I said something else of what I don't remember but he grinned again. I knew he could understand what I was saying. I held his hand and told him I loved him and he was one of the people I knew as a kid that I had wanted to see since I was divorced and my girls away from home.
As I was getting ready to leave I told him "I'll leave you alone, I think I've worn you out (he had rubbed his eyes like he was sleepy)". He said "yes you have"!!!! I loved it and went out with a happy heart!!! I had been told on Saturday night that he was unresponsive and didn't know anyone. I went and talked to his nurse after I left the room. She said someone would be in shortly to feed him his lunch if I wanted to wait. I knew I had a three hour drive plus I wanted to go see Sister Sneed. (That was the last person I had wanted to see) so I left. I don't remember if I left my name with the nurse, if I didn't I 'm sorry. I love your daddy and he will be missed by many I assure you!!!! May he have a blessed homecoming and God give you all peace.

Tammy , Sherry, Robin and Family, Sorry for your loss but it is heavens's gain. He was a wonderful man.

I see the countless Christmas trees
Around the world below,
With tiny lights, like heaven’s stars,
Reflecting on the snow.

The sight is so spectacular,
Please wipe away that tear.
For I’m spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I hear the many Christmas songs,
That people hold so dear,
But the sounds of music can’t compare,
With the Christmas choir up here.

For I have no words to tell you,
The joy their voices bring.
For it is beyond description,
To hear an angel sing.

I can’t tell you of the splendor,
Or the peace here in this place.
Can you just imagine Christmas,
With our Savior, face to face?

I’ll ask Him to light your spirit,
As I tell Him of your love;
So then pray for one another,
As you lift your eyes above.

Please let your heart be joyful,
And let your spirit sing.
For I’m spending Christmas in Heaven,
And I’m walking with the King!

I know how much you miss me;
I see the pain inside your heart.
But I’m not so far away,
We really aren’t apart.

So be happy for me, dear ones,
You know I hold you dear,
And be glad I’m spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year.

I send you each a special gift
From my heavenly home above.
I send you each a memory
Of my undying love.

After all “love” is the gift,
More precious than pure gold.
It was always most important
In the stories Jesus told.

Please love and keep each other
As my Father said to do,
For I can’t count the blessings
Or the love He has for you.

So have a Merry Christmas and
Wipe away that tear.
Remember I’m spending Christmas
With Jesus Christ this year

The world has lost a champion, a warrior of the faith. Bro. Stephens was such a blessing and mentor to me in my early ministry. He was a mighty oak bearing much fruit. Millions shall rise up in the judgment and called him blessed. Only Heaven will reveal the number of souls he has touched. Thank you, Tammy, Sherry, and Robin, for sharing him with the world. May God comfort your hearts during this loss. Heaven is a happy place tonight! -Steven & Lois Hoots
