My heart is very heavy and I am praying for your family. Tony was such a wonderful person and I am so glad that I got to know him while I was singing at the Dream Depot. He would put a smile on your face even on your worse day. He was the same every time I saw him. Had that wonderful smile and gave the best hugs. I thank him for the friendship and the memories that we shared. May God comfort you and be with you.

Not too many from Columbia are called HEROES but you can be proud knowing that Tony was truly that. There is no telling the number of lives he has touched through the years. No words can ever make up for the loss you are feeling, but with the help of friends and most of all, GOD, you will make it through. Tony died doing something good that he believed in. You should be very proud of that as I am sure you are. I don't know the pain of losing a child or a spouse, but I do know the pain of losing a parent. So to
the children, I do say that there will not be a day goes by that you will not think of him and remember something that his love and his life taught you. You all are in my prayers and I pray for strength for you in the coming holidays. The first ones are always the hardest. May God wrap his loving arms around you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My heart aches for all of you. Tony was an outstanding young man whom I have always admired and appreciated.  He was at his best when he was helping people. I'll always treasure his friendship and remember him as a servant to all people.  My prayer is that God will enfold His loving arms around you and give you peace at this sad time. A special prayer for Jacob and "Jacob and Jordie."..the two young men who calls me "Aunt Sue" and who I love very much.
Love, Prayers and Blessings to each of you.

Tony,

Where do I begin. I am at a loss of words writing this. It seems as though this is a dream, and that I will wake up.  I shared so many memories with you, that I cant even remember them all. 6 years of being in the Band together, to being a part of the Adair County Rescue Squad. We laughed a thousand times together, and I enjoyed every moment I had with you. I will always remember that big smile, and that laugh of " Daddy Roach he is everywhere". You have touched so many lives, that it would be hard to top what you have done for the community of Adair and Taylor counties. If there would be one wish that would be for you and Poppa Roach to be dancing in Heaven right now together!! Love yah my friend! We shall meet again in our spiritual bodies! No more pain, sorrows, or tears shed. You have arrived in your eternal home. :)

Offering sincere condolences to the family. I am so very sorry for your loss. Death was never part of our Heavenly Father’s original purpose for mankind. In fact, in His word the Bible He calls it an enemy (1Cor. 15:26) which He promises in the very near future to do away with (Rev. 21:4,5) At that time tragedies and accidents will be a thing of the past,  no one will ever get sick (Isaiah 33:24) and there will be a reuniting, a bringing back to life instead of losing (John 5:28,29) Please allow these words to be of comfort to you and give you hope. (2Cor. 1:3,4)

Our family is so very sorry to hear of the passing of Tony. His smile, warm greetings and laughter will certainly be missed. I can't remember just when I first met Tony, but it seemed whenever I was covering a news story, whether it be a fire, search effort or council meeting, he was there in some capacity. We became quick friends and I always looked forward to seeing him.

One of the most admirable of Tony's attributes was his commitment to serve his fellow man. It didn't seem to matter how large or small the role, he attacked the task with whole-hearted determination. He gave his all to many departments, boards and organizations hoping to help in any way possible and make our small community a better place to live. That, is the true mark of a humanitarian. And he certainly was.

Shirley and Family,

My heart is breaking for you. Tony was a very special and loving person. I remember coming to the hospital to see him when he was born. He and Daniel were friends and neighbors, growing up. He was one of the EMT'S that brought my mom home from the Somerset Hospital, in 2007, before she passed away. I remember being very happy that my mom was in Tony's care, the day she was brought home. Momma had always remarked about how well mannered and respectful Tony always was. He was very special to so many. I know the Angel's are rejoicing right now. Tony is resting in the arms of Jesus. I will continue to keep your family in prayer. God bless. Ann.

It is with our deepest of condolences to the Grider Family in the loss of Tony.
Tony was a very loving man,and if you would catch him on a good day,he would even make you laugh at whatever humorous type of joke he could garnish up at that particular moment.
You just could not help but to love him,as he would always have a smile on his face and he would litterally give you the shirt off his back,if you needed one as he would even pitch in a coat too if you were cold.
I myself am very honored to have had him train me on the "ride time" that I needed for my EMT class at ECTC two years ago. He was a very good friend to have and to learn from because he did it Selflessly
Tony: God now has you in heaven, and you don't hurt anymore because you have earned your wings and he is happy to have you in his kingdom.
Yes, we all will miss seeing you and your smile down here, but you are now the Guardian Angel that we will know when you are definitely with each one of us. Rest in Sweet Peace my Friend...... We will take over the call from here.  Jim " Sarge " and Stephanie Johnson and Family
