Dorothy Rea Parnell, 87, of Columbia, Kentucky, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 2:35 P.M. at T.J. Samson Hospital in Glasgow.

She was born March 18, 1929, in Green County, to the late John Buren and Josie Venus McKinney Mouser.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James C. “Jiggs” Parnell, a son, Billy Joe Parnell, a brother, Harold Mouser and a sister, Juanita Price.

She was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church and retired from Fruit of the Loom.

Survivors include:

One son and daughter-in-law – Mike and Sherry Parnell of Columbia

One daughter and son-in-law – Carolyn and Johnny Richard of Columbia

One sister – Margie Hicks of St. Pete, Florida

Four grandchildren – Jamie Richard, Dereck Richard, Benisha Johnson, Angela Alexander

Eight great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends

Funeral service – Friday, December 9, 2016 at 11:00 A.M. at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Moon and Rev. Steve Pescosolido officiating

Burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery

Visitation after 4:00 P.M. Thursday
